NJ datacenter ran 62 unpermitted generators for months

A Microsoft-linked datacenter in Vineland, New Jersey ran 62 gas-fired generators for months with no permits, discharging health-harming air pollution before state regulators stepped in, according to public records reviewed by Floodlight and the Guardian. The DataOne facility had already been hit with a $1 million fine in August for unpermitted generators.

The episode is the latest clash between the AI datacenter buildout and local air-quality enforcement.
