OpenAI DevDay: GPT-6.1 Sol ships, Dots go live

OpenAI's DevDay keynote on Monday formalized the post-Astra lineup: GPT-6.1 Sol, described as "near-Astra" agentic coding and computer use at a fifth of Astra's price, is shipping instead of the scuttled model. Also announced: Dots, always-on agents with their own cloud computer and 4,000+ app connections (Pro and Business Premium first); an Ultrafast tier running 8x token speed; ChatGPT Pro 500 at $500 a month; collaborative ChatGPT Space and Pages; an Agents API with computer use; Codex Security Cloud; Bedrock Managed Agents with AWS; and Private Intelligence with zero data retention.

Independent grading remains skeptical: Artificial Analysis has Sol at 52 versus 58 for Anthropic's Opus 5.5 on its Intelligence Index. Anthropic, meanwhile, launched Claude Sonnet 5.5 on September 28.
